Manaar House Guest Reviews

The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. Best we've ever had. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was freshly cooked out by the beautiful pool and spa area.

I recently had a marvelous second stay at this excellent B&B.

Very well situated, close to the amenities and beaches of Umhlanga Rocks, this really is one of the most welcoming places I have the pleasure of visiting.

My room was comfortable and right off the pool deck, although the star of the show was the giant bathtub. Luxury!

Breakfast is very good and sufficient to keep me going throughout the day, however busy I am.

Hermann and Jonathan were wonderful hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and they were particularly helpful when I needed to urgently retrieve an item I had stupidly left in the safe after checking out. Thanks guys!

Unquestionably my 'go to' place in the Durban area.

Manaar House lived up to our very high expectations. The hosts were friendly and accommodating and the place looked exactly how it appears on their website. It was a very comfortable stay in the duplex 2 bed self catering unit and would gladly return. Highly recommended. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our time in Durban!!

Unfortunately my stay was short - I decided to spend one night closer to the airport as I was unable to get a return flight to JHB on the day. My welcome was warm and friendly, room spacious, clean and well equipped. As I had to leave early the next morning to catch my flight, I opted to skip breakfast. However Jonathan insisted on making me a 'little something' before I left which was lovely. How I wish I could have lingered on the beautiful breakfast patio surrounded by greenery and knickknacks.

I stayed here 3 years ago and this trip I found the welcome just as warm and friendly as before. The room was a good size, with catering facilities. A good size walk in shower and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was made to order, again with a smile. Would highly recommend.

Hermann, our amazing host was super friendly and greeted us with a big smile. We got upgraded to the family apartment and it was superb! Everything we could have asked for. The facility is beautiful and clean, and very well equipped. We stayed there unfortunately only for one night, and had to leave very early in the morning to catch a flight, and Hermann was kind enough to leave for us a light breakfast in the room. We would definitely go back again.

I really can't praise this establishment highly enough - the first 10/10 I've ever given. Very comfortable, very welcoming and amazing quality and value for money.”

We really enjoyed our stay at this B&B. Jonathan and Herman cannot do enough for you, including going out to fetch us pizza on our first night, when we were all exhausted from our grueling journey. Monty, the gentle dog, is also pretty cool.

I stayed here a little earlier this month with my family. An excellent spot, close to Umhlanga, Durban and all its delights, Jonathan and Herman made our stay a very memorable one. Make sure you see Lord Monty while there, one of the coolest dogs on the planet. Their breakfast is also a must have, and very muxh worth waking up for!

After reading all the previous reviews my hubby and I decided to stay here for 3 nights. Everything is true, Hermann and Jono were at our service to give us great recommendations on where to eat and to make our stay one that was welcoming and comfortable. Thanks again Andrea and Perry

We stayed in the two-bedroom apartment for five nights. The apartment was spacious, clean and well decorated. We enjoyed the nice, comfortable atmosphere and very friendly staff. The location of Manaar Guest House is quite good, just two minutes to the beach by car and about 15 - 20 minutes to Durban. Breakfast was great with a good variety of food. Wifi was also available 24/7. If we go to Umhlanga again, we will definitely stay again at Manaar House.

The Manaar House is a lovely place. The pool, the jacuzzi and the room, they are beautifull. But in the end it's all about the people. And that's what makes the stay unique: the hosts are great! One of the best experiences in Africa!

Many thanks to Jack and Mark for a very warm welcome to their charming place in Umhlanga.
Perfect rooms, excellent breakfasts, plans made to resolve problems, in short a professionally run operation centred around the needs of their guests. That is increasingly difficult to find these days, and I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to all travellers heading for Umhlanga.

I loved Manaar House! It was comfy and relaxing while also feeling like a special luxurious treat. The breakfast was by far the best I had throughout my entire trip. I wish there were more places like this.

What a pleasant stay at Manaar House! The accommodation was fantastic - the bathroom in particular was gorgeous - the hospitality was friendly, professional and welcoming. The overall experience was wonderful. The parking area is not for the faint hearted, however, Jack and Mark were always willing to assist, which made it easier. Thank you for a wonderful stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, tranquil and stylish place just to “get away”

What a wonderful place this is. Forget the big hotels they have no chance of providing the same hospitality, comfort and service the Manaar Hotel provides. Umhlanga is a brilliant place to stay with lots to do and great places to eat.
